Aug 16: Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida Campus, celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great patriotic fervour, enthusiasm and pride. The celebrations brought together the University leadership, faculty members, staff and students to commemorate the nation’s glorious journey of freedom and progress, while reaffirming their commitment towards contributing to the building of a strong, self-reliant and developed India.
The celebrations commenced with the Flag Hoisting Ceremony, by Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh, followed by the National Anthem, filling the campus with a profound sense of patriotism and national pride. The patriotic spirit of the celebrations was further heightened with a soulful rendition of “Vande Mataram,” which filled the atmosphere with a deep sense of pride and love for the nation.
Sharing his visionary thoughts on the occasion, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group, averred, “Independence Day is a day to remember the unparalleled sacrifices of the freedom fighters and pay tribute to the courage, resilience and spirit that led to India’s independence. Our youth must dream big, innovate fearlessly, dedicate their knowledge and talent towards nation-building and making India a global leader. As we celebrate Independence Day, we must remember that the vision of a Viksit Bharat can be realised only through collective effort, shared responsibility and an unwavering spirit of national unity. Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said, “As India marches towards the vision of a Viksit Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, research and innovation must remain closely aligned with our national priorities. Universities have a critical responsibility to nurture cutting-edge research that strengthens India’s capabilities in strategic areas such as defence, cybersecurity, space technology and emerging technologies. By fostering meaningful collaborations with national institutions such as DRDO and ISRO, and empowering our young researchers to develop indigenous solutions, we can contribute significantly to a stronger, more secure and technologically self-reliant India. Our pursuit of knowledge must ultimately translate into innovations that serve the nation and shape its future. Education has a transformative role in nation-building and universities must create an ecosystem where young people are encouraged not only to pursue excellence in their chosen fields but also to address societal challenges through research, innovation, entrepreneurship and community engagement.”

The celebrations witnessed a series of mesmerizing patriotic cultural performances by Amity students, including patriotic songs, dance performances and other presentations showcasing the rich cultural diversity and heritage of India, which filled the campus with the spirit of patriotism and reflected the students’ deep respect for the nation and its diverse cultural ethos. Also present on the occasion were the HOIs, Deans, faculty, staff and students of Amity.
