BITS Pilani partners with the University of Michigan to enhance academic and scientific collaboration

June 3: Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, an institute of eminence, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, to promote cooperation in education and scientific research between the two institutions. The agreement lays the foundation for collaboration aimed at advancing academic engagement, research exchange, and global learning opportunities for students and faculty.

Under the MoU, BITS Pilani and the University of Michigan will explore opportunities for student mobility in both directions, including exchanges and visiting student programmes, as well as internships. The institutions will also endeavor to promote faculty development and exchange, including summer teaching opportunities for faculty members and university immersion initiatives. Furthermore, both universities will seek to identify opportunities for collaboration in research, knowledge-sharing, and the hosting of joint academic events and conferences.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Ramgopal Rao, Group Vice Chancellor, BITS Pilani, said,

“This partnership reflects BITS Pilani’s commitment to building impactful global collaborations that advance knowledge, foster innovation, and create meaningful opportunities for our students and faculty. We look forward to working together to strengthen academic exchange, expand research engagement, and develop new avenues for learning that benefit both institutions.”

Laurie K. McCauley, DDS, MS, PhD, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, University of Michigan added,

The MoU is intended to strengthen international collaboration while supporting academic excellence and innovation at both institutions.
