With the world becoming more and more interconnected, the importance of global citizenship has risen manifold. Global citizenship is a way of living that recognizes the world as an increasingly complex web of human contacts. Global citizenship helps instill in people an understanding that they have a close relationship not just with their neighbors but with people across the globe. This creates awareness about how we all share similar social, political, and environmental concerns and should work together to resolve them. It is also about encouraging this wide worldview through travel or offering aid to those around the globe who need your help. One of the strongest reasons why education can be considered a key component for the development of a country; especially in terms of developing a sense of global citizenship.

One important reason why internationalizing curricula through quality international education programs promotes global citizenship is that it expands one’s academic horizon while building cultural awareness among one another.

Not only does international education help to ensure that students are globally literate, but it is also key in encouraging students to engage with critical global issues such as climate change and sustainability, poverty, or human rights.
