Kolkata, June 30: The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, has opened admissions to the eighth batch of its Executive Programme in Operations Management. The programme has been designed for professionals across manufacturing, finance, services, supply chain, product development, and allied sectors, enabling them to build a comprehensive, future-ready capability stack in operations management.
Global supply chains continue to operate under heightened pressure from disruption, labour volatility, cost escalation, demand uncertainty and technology-led transformation. Against this backdrop, organisations increasingly require professionals who can respond with agility, scale operations intelligently, apply analytics to anticipate challenges and build resilient supply chains. The 12-month programme, delivered through a combination of LIVE online sessions and in-person interactions on campus, will equip learners to manage complex operating environments, strengthen cross-functional decision-making and apply emerging digital tools such as blockchain and IoT to streamline operations. It approaches operations through a strategic lens, helping professionals connect core concepts with contemporary business expectations. Seasoned professionals will also benefit from its focus on operations leadership, refreshed frameworks and practical tools that can be applied to evolving organisational contexts.
Global talent and industry trends further underline the need for structured upskilling in operations and supply chain management. The global supply chain management market is projected to reach USD 72.82 billion by 2034, registering a CAGR of 10.40 per cent, driven by e-commerce expansion, digital adoption and AI-enabled supply chains. The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025 also indicates that 170 million new jobs are expected to be created by 2030, with operations and allied roles continuing to gain prominence as organisations reconfigure for resilience, productivity and growth.
Speaking at the announcement of the eighth batch, Professors Sumanta Basu and Vishal Bansal, Programme Directors and faculty members of the Operations Management group, IIM Calcutta, said, “Professionals in operations often learn by solving complex problems every day, but sustained career growth requires a broader strategic lens. This programme helps learners connect their practical experience with contemporary frameworks, analytics and technology-led thinking, enabling them to make sharper decisions and lead operations with greater confidence.”
