Bengaluru, India July 31st, 2024: NMIMS Bengaluru School of Economics, School of Commerce and School of Law recently hosted a grand orientation event to welcome the new batch of students for the academic year 2024. The event featured esteemed guests including Mr. Ajit Pai, Vice President of MSLGroup India, Mr. Gourav Sinha, Senior Director of Product Marketing and GTM at Salesforce, Ms. Eram Qudsia, Head of Human Resources at MyGate, Mr. Sathish Krishnan, Head of CRM at Redbus, Ms. Latika Kandpal Rao, Associate Director of Human Resources (South) at Khaitan & Co, and Ms. Ashitha Bhagwan, Managing Partner at Inventus Law. Their presence marked the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the new students.
The new batch for the academic year 2024 exemplifies NMIMS Bengaluru’s commitment to diversity and excellence. The B.Sc Economics program welcomes 82 students (48% male, 52% female). The BBA program has 276 students (62% male, 38% female). The B.Com program includes 40 students (61% male, 39% female), and the B.Sc Finance program comprises 52 students (56% male, 44% female). The BA LLB program hosts 71 students (70% male, 30% female), while the BBA LLB program includes 69 students (65% male, 35% female).
Dr. Narayani Ramachandran, Campus Director of NMIMS Bengaluru, welcomed the new students, highlighting the institution’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. “We are thrilled to welcome the new batch to NMIMS Bengaluru. With a 16-year legacy, we provide a positive, supportive learning environment. Our goal is to equip students with skills for adaptability and confidence. I confidently say these students have entrusted their future to the right hands,” she remarked.
The orientation program included various activities designed to familiarise students with the campus, faculty, and their peers. Sessions on sustainability, interdisciplinary learning, and industry trends were conducted to prepare students for their future academic and professional pursuits.
Mr. Ajit Pai, Vice President of MSLGroup, shared insights on adaptability, resilience, and ethical leadership. “I’m thrilled to see you all starting your journey at NMIMS Bengaluru. Reflecting on my college days, I understand your mix of emotions. Develop skills beyond the classroom, invest time in reading, and build a passion outside academics. Mr. Gourav Sinha, Sr. Director at Salesforce, emphasised self-awareness and risk-taking. “Embrace your flaws and take risks. Life is full of experiences, and setbacks are part of the journey. Understand what excites you, minimise negatives, and focus on your passions. Surround yourself with supportive people, as success is not just about achieving goals but also about the relationships you build along the way,” he emphasised.
Ms. Eram Qudsia, Head of HR at My Gate, spoke on independence and personal growth. “Entering NMIMS Bengaluru marks a transformative journey. Living independently teaches invaluable life skills. Embrace every moment, forge new friendships, and learn from exceptional faculty. Explore your interests and grow personally and professionally. Mr. Sathish Krishnan, Head CRM at Redbus, shared insights from his career. “I’ve learned the importance of the 4 Ts: Thank You, Trust, Think, and Try. Be grateful to those who support you. Build trust with mentors and colleagues. Think about the impact of your decisions. Keep trying despite setbacks; perseverance leads to success. These principles have guided me and will help you in your academic and professional journeys. Gratitude and perseverance are key.”
Ms. Latika Kandpal Rao, Associate Director of HR(South) at Khaitan & Co, emphasised the importance of integrity, communication, and personal branding. “Stand out by building your personal brand, honing your skills, and staying true to your core values. Embrace opportunities, network actively, and maintain a healthy mind. Financial independence is crucial, especially for women. I wish all the students the best as they embark on this transformative journey.”
Ms. Ashitha Bhagwan, Managing Partner at Inventus Law, encouraged students to embrace the challenges and opportunities of law school. “Build relationships, hone your skills, and use your time wisely. Your five years here will lay the foundation for your future. Network actively, explore different facets of law, and always stay true to your core values. Your journey in law school is a chance to shape your career and make a meaningful impact on society.”
