Not only intelligent, creative too: MBBS students of NIIMS excel in the model-making competition.

Greater Noida May 09: The Department of Anatomy at Noida International Institute of Medical Sciences, Medical College & Hospital (NIIMS), Greater Noida, successfully conducted a Neuroanatomy Model Making Competition for MBBS Batch 2025–26 students.

The academic activity witnessed the participation of 150 first-year MBBS students, who were divided into 25 groups, each assigned a key neuroanatomy topic. The competition commenced at 10:00 AM in the Dissection Hall, under the guidance and support of Dr. Devesh Kumar Singh, Chairman, NIIMS, Dr. S. N. Gupta, Director, NIIMS, Dr. Ranjit Ghuliani, Medical Superintendent, NIIMS Hospital, and the Department of Anatomy. The initiative aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the complex relationship between the structure and function of the nervous system, while also encouraging creativity, teamwork, and presentation skills.

A panel of judges comprising faculty members from clinical and paraclinical departments evaluated the models based on scientific accuracy, innovation, and presentation. The competition served as a dynamic platform for students to translate theoretical knowledge into practical, visual representations.

Among the winners, the group consisting of Alyssa Goyal, Bhavya Sharma, Khushi Kumari, Prakruthi Jayapalsingh Samorekar, Shashank Agarwal, and Varsha secured the first prize for their model on Reflex Arc. The second prize was awarded to the group presenting Medial Medullary Syndrome, while the third prize was jointly shared by groups working on the Taste Pathway and Functional Areas of the Cerebral Hemisphere.

Certificates were distributed to all winners and participants by the institution’s leadership, including the Dean and senior officials, recognizing the students’ dedication and effort.

Dr. Manisha Jindal, Dean, NIIMS Medical College, said, “At NIIMS, we strongly believe that learning goes beyond textbooks. " Activities like the Neuroanatomy Model Competition help students develop a deeper conceptual understanding while fostering innovation and confidence. These activities show that MBBS students are not only sincere in their studies but also creative and artistic. We are proud to see such enthusiastic participation from our young medical aspirants.”

Dr. Pratishtha Potdar, Professor & Head, Department of Anatomy, said, “This competition was designed to make neuroanatomy more engaging and application-oriented. I am extremely proud of the efforts put in by the MBBS Batch 2025–26 students. Their creativity and commitment truly made this event a success. I also extend my gratitude to my entire team for their support in organizing this academic initiative.”

Dr. Potdar further acknowledged the contributions of the faculty members from the Department of Anatomy, including Dr. Anand, Dr. Tejinder, Dr. Durga, Dr. Kalyani, Dr. Mudassir, Dr. Abinav, and Dr. Benazeer, for their role in successfully executing the event.
