Royal Nimar Eagles Finish as Runners-up in MPL 2026; Now Driving Initiatives to Promote Education and Sporting Talent Alongside Cricket

Aug 18: Royal Nimar Eagles delivered an impressive performance in the very first season of the Madhya Pradesh Premier League, securing the runners-up position and bringing pride to the Nimar region. The team, which entered the league as a joint initiative of AISECT India and Dr. C.V. Raman University, Khandwa, is now linking this sporting achievement with education, women’s empowerment, and the development of grassroots sports talent.

On the occasion, Mr. Dilip Singh Tomar, Executive President, District Cricket Association, Khandwa, and Secretary, Gymkhana Cricket Club, Khandwa, along with Mr. Sadanand Yadav, Secretary, District Cricket Association, Khandwa, were specially felicitated. Players from both the men’s and women’s teams of Royal Nimar Eagles also interacted with the people and aspiring cricketers of the Nimar region.

As part of this effort, a special event and press conference were organized in Khandwa, during which 31 selected students were awarded scholarships under the social initiatives undertaken during MPL 2026. Additionally, cricket kits were distributed to 19 schools across the Nimar region. During the event, players from Dr. C.V. Raman University, Khandwa, who won bronze medals at the Asian Championship, were honored for their outstanding achievements. Sports coaches from Khandwa city were also felicitated.

Encouraging Girls’ Education for Every 100 Runs Scored

During MPL 2026, AISECT Group of Universities  launched a special initiative under which a scholarship would be awarded to female students in Madhya Pradesh for every 100 runs scored by any team in the tournament. The objective was to connect the platform of cricket with girls’ education and women’s empowerment

Under this initiative, 191 selected female students from Madhya Pradesh were awarded scholarships through various programs supported by the AISECT Group of Universities. In continuation of this effort, Dr. C.V. Raman University awarded scholarships to 31 female students from the Nimar region. This initiative represents an important step toward encouraging higher education for young women by linking the popularity of sports with social causes.

Mr. Santosh Choubey, Chairman of AISECT and Chancellor of Rabindranath Tagore University, said

“For us, cricket is not merely about winning or losing on the field; it can also serve as a medium for bringing positive change in society. The scholarship initiative for girls’ education linked to every 100 runs scored during MPL reflects this vision. Our effort is to ensure that the energy and popularity generated by sports benefit education and reach those sections of society that need it the most

Initiative to Strengthen Grassroots Cricket in Nimar

During MPL, Royal Nimar Eagles pledged that for every 100 runs scored by the team in a match, cricket kits would be distributed to schools across the Nimar region. As part of this commitment, cricket kits were distributed to 19 schools from different parts of the Nimar region. The objective is to provide better sporting resources to children and young players and strengthen the cricketing culture at the grassroots level in Nimar.

Dr. Siddharth Chaturvedi, Executive Vice President of AISECT India and Chancellor of Scope Global Skills University, said

“Royal Nimar Eagles was not envisioned merely as a cricket team. The idea behind it was to identify local talent, provide opportunities, and connect sports with the region’s social development. Through the cricket kit distribution initiative, we aim to ensure that schools and local academies receive the resources they need. At the same time, through scholarships, we are encouraging girls’ education. Our goal is to expand these initiatives further in the future.”

Asian Championship Medal Winners Honored

During the event, three players from Dr. C.V. Raman University, Khandwa, were specially honored for their remarkable performance in the Asian Championship, where they won bronze medals and brought recognition to both the university and Khandwa. Their achievements were highlighted as a source of inspiration for young athletes.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Arun Joshi said

 “The achievements of our students at the Asian Championship demonstrate that there is no shortage of talent in the Nimar region. The need is simply to provide the right training, resources, and opportunities. Royal Nimar Eagles and these sports development initiatives are important steps in that direction.”

Felicitation of 25 Sports Coaches

The event also honored 25 sports coaches who have played a significant role in nurturing sporting talent in the Nimar region. It was emphasized that a coach plays a critical role behind every athlete’s success. Their contribution to strengthening sports at the grassroots level is helping build a foundation for future generations of athletes.

Registrar Dr. Ravi Chaturvedi said

 “The role of coaches in advancing sporting talent is extremely important. Honoring 25 sports coaches from Nimar is not only a recognition of their contribution but also an effort to further encourage sports training in the region. The university places equal importance on sports and the overall development of students alongside education.”

Royal Eagles Cricket Academy to Be Launched in Khandwa

To provide regular and modern training opportunities to cricketing talent in the Nimar region, the Royal Eagles Cricket Academy is being launched in Khandwa. The academy will offer emerging cricketers structured training, professional coaching, and an enhanced sporting environment.

Mr. Sanjay Pandey, Head Coach of Royal Nimar Eagles, said

“There is no shortage of talent in Nimar. Through the Royal Eagles Cricket Academy, we will strive to ensure that children receive proper technique, discipline, and competitive cricket training from the early stages. This will help players from the region progress to district, state, and national levels in the future.”

Mr. G. Satish Kumar, Cricket Director of Royal Nimar Eagles, said

“The vision of Royal Nimar Eagles is not limited to MPL. We aim to develop a strong cricket ecosystem in Nimar. The academy, cricket kit distribution in schools, and talent identification programs are all part of this broader vision. Our goal is to see more and more players from Nimar establish themselves at higher levels of cricket in the years to come.

Royal Nimar Eagles Enjoyed an Outstanding MPL Campaign

Formed with the objective of providing a platform for cricketing talent from the Nimar region, Royal Nimar Eagles reached the final in their very first MPL season and finished as runners-up. The team’s performance has not only boosted enthusiasm for cricket in Nimar but has also strengthened opportunities for local talent to advance on bigger platforms.

Along with Royal Nimar Eagles’ achievement, the scholarship program, distribution of cricket kits, felicitation of sports coaches, recognition of Asian Championship medal winners, and the launch of the Royal Eagles Cricket Academy collectively represent a broader vision of connecting cricket with education, talent development, and social transformation.
