India has achieved a significant milestone in weightlifting as Manipur’s Bindyarani Devi clinched the country’s first-ever World Cup medal in the category of weightlifting. Bindyarani Devi secured a historic bronze medal in the women’s 55 kg category at the IWF World Cup by lifting a total of 196 kg. Her remarkable performance also earned her a silver medal in the clean and jerk category. This achievement adds to her accolades, including a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games, highlighting her prowess and dedication to the sport.

while everyone is crazy about the Indian Premier League (IPL), Bindyarani Devi’s remarkable achievement in securing a medal in this fiercely competitive category stands out. Despite her stellar performance, Bindyarani currently holds the 29th rank in the Olympic Qualification Round (OQR). However, she faced the unfortunate reality of missing out on Olympic qualification, as only the top 10 lifters were granted the opportunity to compete in the prestigious event. Nevertheless, her dedication and success in weightlifting continue to inspire athletes.

In the IWF World Cup, Kang Hyon Gyong from North Korea secured the gold medal by lifting a total of 234 kg, showcasing her dominance in the competition. The silver medal was claimed by Cambei Mihaela-Valentina from Romania, who lifted a total of 201 kg, demonstrating her strength and skill on the international stage.
