Gurugram, October 29, 2024: In an endeavour to raise awareness about breast cancer, CK Birla Hospital, Gurugram, successfully organised a walkathon ‘WalkTheCause’. The event witnessed a remarkable turnout of breast cancer survivors, their families, medical professionals, and members of the local community, all coming together in solidarity to spread the message of hope, early detection, and empowerment in total more than 300 people participated.
Breast cancer survivors were the guests of honour at the event, and many attended with their families, to highlight the support of the family in their journey. The event was flagged off in the early hours of the day at 7:30 AM, with an air of excitement and determination as participants gathered at the hospital premises.
CK Birla Hospital hosted a special gathering for breast cancer survivors before a walkathon, allowing them to share their inspiring stories and connect with healthcare experts. This emotional event highlighted their strength and solidarity.
Participants then took part in a 1.5-kilometre walk, symbolizing unity against breast cancer and raising public awareness. The event included a high-energy Zumba session, followed by refreshments, promoting a healthy lifestyle. Attendees engaged with medical experts, discussing breast cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment. Local residents also joined the walk, amplifying the hospital’s message of hope and the importance of awareness.
Emphasizing the importance of early detection in combating breast cancer, Dr Rohan Khandelwal – Lead Consultant & Head ( The Breast Centre) Said “Dressed in pink, a symbol of breast cancer awareness, the crowd brought vibrancy and unity to our cause. The primary goal of this walkathon is not only to promote early detection but also to celebrate the incredible journeys of breast cancer survivors. We aim to empower them and spread hope to those affected by this disease. Regular screenings and early diagnosis significantly improve outcomes, and it’s our responsibility as healthcare providers to make these screenings accessible while raising awareness about available treatment options.”
The lively atmosphere at the ‘WalkTheCause’ walkathon saw participants of all ages, including children and the elderly, marching in support. The event not only displayed solidarity but also celebrated life, encouraging proactive steps toward personal health and well-being, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility for breast cancer awareness.
