The decision is expected to significantly benefit students from economically weaker sections and reduce the financial burden on thousands of families across the state. With the removal of tuition fees, children from disadvantaged backgrounds will have greater opportunities to pursue quality education without economic constraints.
Announcing the initiative, the Chief Minister said the state government is committed to ensuring that no student is deprived of education due to financial difficulties. He emphasized that education is the foundation of social and economic progress and that the government is focused on making learning accessible to every child and youth in Odisha.
The move is being seen as a major step towards educational inclusivity and empowerment. By extending free education from the foundational stage to higher studies, the government aims to improve enrolment, reduce dropout rates and create a stronger knowledge-based society.
Officials said the initiative will ease the burden of educational expenses on parents while encouraging more students to continue their studies through higher education. Detailed guidelines regarding implementation and coverage are expected to be issued by the concerned departments shortly.
The announcement underscores the state's commitment to investing in human capital and building a more equitable education system, ensuring that financial barriers do not stand in the way of academic aspirations.
