VEVA ART Introduces the NEW WAVE ART INITIATIVE to Celebrate 10 Years of Supporting Art

Delhi – VEVA ART is excited to announce the introduction of the NEW WAVE ART INITIATIVE, a new platform to showcase the work of undiscovered and emerging artists from different backgrounds. This initiative is a major step in VEVA ART’s 10-year journey of promoting Indian art. Since it started, VEVA ART has supported non-profit organizations by helping them raise funds through art.

The NEW WAVE ART INITIATIVE aims to break barriers in the art world by bringing together artists from different walks of life and allowing them to display their work on a big stage. The first phase of this initiative focuses on artists from the Indian defense services—the Air Force, Navy, and Army—artists from civil services, and emerging artists. It will also include differently-abled artists from the Veer Naaris community.

VEVA ART has selected 50 artists from all over India for the first phase. They hosted two special workshops—one in Delhi and one in Pune—to help these emerging artists improve their skills and prepare for the first exhibition, which will be held on October 5, 2024, at The Park Hotel,Connaught Place, Delhi.

The inaugural exhibition will be attended by prominent guests, including defense officers, their spouses, and the artists themselves. While most of the artists come from the defense services, the exhibition will also feature a few emerging artists and artists from civil services, showing the inclusive spirit of the NEW WAVE ART INITIATIVE.

Mr. Raju Sutar, a well-known figure in the art world, will be the mentor and curator for this initiative.

“We are thrilled to introduce the NEW WAVE ART INITIATIVE as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting emerging talent,” said Malavika, Co-Founder of VEVA ART. “This initiative highlights our dedication to diversity and inclusion in the arts, and we are excited to showcase the amazing work of artists from the defense and civil services in this first phase.”

Jehan Kothary, Co-Founder of VEVA ART, added, “At VEVA ART, we have always aimed to create a space where art and artists can grow. Over the past decade, we have focused on giving artists the tools and opportunities they need to succeed. The NEW WAVE ART INITIATIVE reflects this goal by giving new talents a chance to shine.”

Curator Raju Sutar shared his thoughts: “The NEW WAVE ART INITIATIVE is a celebration of creativity, resilience, and diversity. Working with these artists has been inspiring. Their unique perspectives bring fresh and powerful stories to contemporary art.”

Ms. Navita Vohra from the defense services, who attended the Delhi workshop, said, “As someone from the defense services, art has always helped me express feelings and experiences that words can’t capture. Being part of this initiative is an honor, and it’s inspiring to see how creativity and discipline can come together.”

Differently-abled artist Sanjan Berua said, “This platform gives me an incredible chance to share my story through art and to stand alongside other talented emerging artists.”

Rachana Bajaj, who attended the workshop in Pune, said, “Being part of this initiative is a chance to showcase my work and grow with other emerging artists.”
