"Though biryani has its roots in Persia, it has evolved over the centuries into one of the world's most iconic dishes. As it travelled across regions, it embraced local ingredients, cooking techniques, and traditions, with every variation reflecting the unique flavours and culinary identity of the communities that made it their own. Today, biryani continues to rank among the most-ordered dishes, proving that while food trends may come and go, timeless flavours never go out of style. Consumers are increasingly seeking authentic regional recipes and memorable dining experiences, making biryani more relevant than ever.
It is one of the most widely consumed food categories in India, with an estimated market size of ₹40,000 crore, it remains largely unorganised. The organised segment, accounting for around 8% of the market, is expanding rapidly as consumers increasingly seek consistency, convenience, and trusted brands.
A well-made biryani is a complete meal, combining protein, premium rice, aromatic spices, and fresh ingredients into a satisfying and balanced dish. On World Biryani Day, we celebrate a culinary tradition that has been cherished across generations. More than just a favourite meal, biryani represents celebration, togetherness, and a shared legacy of recipes and craftsmanship that continue to unite people through food."
