Roorkee, May 22: In a move aimed at strengthening India’s electric vehicle (EV) workforce and bridging the industry-academia skill gap, the Electronics and ICT (E&ICT) Academy of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SkyySkill Academy to launch industry-aligned certification programmes in Electric Vehicle Technology.
The collaboration seeks to equip students, professionals and aspiring engineers with specialised skills required for India’s rapidly expanding EV ecosystem through advanced and short-term certification courses designed to meet industry demands.
According to information shared by IIT Roorkee, the partnership will focus on offering job-oriented programmes aligned with emerging trends in electric mobility, battery systems, EV maintenance, embedded systems and future mobility technologies. The initiative is expected to support India’s transition towards sustainable transportation while addressing the growing demand for a skilled workforce in the sector.
The agreement was signed under the E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, with representatives from both institutions present during the Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony. Officials stated that the programmes would blend academic excellence with practical, industry-focused learning to prepare candidates for real-world employment opportunities.
The collaboration comes at a time when India is witnessing a sharp rise in electric vehicle adoption, increasing investments in clean mobility and expanding demand for trained professionals capable of supporting the evolving EV industry.
By introducing industry-integrated certification courses, IIT Roorkee and SkyySkill Academy aim to create a talent pipeline capable of meeting future workforce requirements while enhancing employability among young professionals and students interested in electric vehicle technology.
